He has been a consultant anaesthetist specialising in vascular anaesthesia at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for 15 years. His clinical andresearch interests include anaesthesia for TAAA surgery, the diagnosis and management of coagulopathy during surgery and the management of patients with cardiac disease undergoing non-cardiac surgery. He helped establish a national service for Scottish patients undergoing TAAA surgery and works for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service as a Lead Clinician for Better Blood Transfusion.
