Alan Nebauer

Alan NebauerIn spite of growing up in a small Australian town more than two hours away from the coast, Alan Nebauer harboured a deep passion for sailing since around the age of eight. Inspired by accounts written by the likes of Knox-Johnston, Robin Lee Graham ad French single-handed sailor Moitessier, among others, he determined that he would one day sail single-handed around the world. He is always thankful for the wonderful opportunities that have allowed a boyhood passion to develop into a livelihood. He first realised his dream to sail around the world, racing in the single-handed BOC Challenge in 1994-95 (telling the story of that voyage in his first book, Against All Odds, published in 1996). With a lifetime on the water, he has built boats and works as a project manager and consultant in the marine industry. Alan has been married to Cindy since 1987 and they have two adult children who are always ready for adventure. Alan and Cindy are based in Jervis Bay, Australia, where they founded and operate a sailing charter business. Alan enjoys sharing his passion for long-distance sailing, and encouraging other sailors to embark on their own sailing adventures with confidence and safety. Read More Read Less
