Akram AlmajidDr. Mukhtar Ali earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Near Eastern Studies, and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in Philosophy. A scholar of Islamic Studies, he specializes in Sufism, Islaic philosophy and ethics. His areas of interest include Arabic and Persian literature, Qurʾānic studies, theology and comparative religion. He taught Arabic at Claremont McKenna College and theological and philosophical ethics at Hamad bin Khalifa University in Qatar. While his teaching includes Islamic Studies and Arabic language, he is also a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, having earned a master's from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine (2011) and his doctorate from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (2017).
