Aileen CampbellAileen Campbell was born near Brahan Castle in northern Scotland. An art enthusiast even as a young girl, she was greatly influenced by J. Pittendrigh Macgillivray, the appointed king's limner, or royal painter, for Scotland. During World War II, sheserved as a registered nurse and certified nurse-midwife in both Scotland and England before immigrating to Canada. After moving to the United States, where she served again as an R.N. and CNM in Maryland, she has now retired in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
