Adin Thayer

Adin ThayerAdin Thayer has worked as a psychotherapist, a teacher at the Smith College for Social Work, and a peacebuilding facilitator in several African countries. In addition to what she draws from these sources, her work queries her childhood growing up in irginia when it was a legally segregated state. This background gives her work a sense of urgency as an adult to reveal, through her childhood eyes, a not seeing still inherent in the inequality we live with today. Threaded through her work is evidence of the multitude of resources, human, personal, cultural and spiritual, that people develop to transcend or transform challenging experiences. Among these resources, the lawfulness and beauty of the natural world have sustained and enriched her life, and are close to ubiquitous in her poetry. She was educated at Wellesley College and the University of North Carolina School for Social Work. She is the mother of two daughters and lives in Massachusetts. Read More Read Less
