A Catharine RossA. Catharine Ross, PhD, received her undergraduate education at the University of California at Davis (zoology), and masters (MNS) in nutrition and PhD in biochemistry from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. She was a postdoctoral fellow in the Departmet of Medicine, Columbia University. She began her academic career at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and moved to Pennsylvania State University in 1994. In 2022, she retired as Professor Emerita and occupant emerita of the Dorothy Foehr Huck Chair in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Penn State. In 2023, she joined Texas A&M University, College Station, as Professor of Nutrition. Dr. Ross has conducted research on vitamin A nutrition and metabolism and on nutrition and immune function for more than four decades. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nutrition from 2004-2013, and was the senior Editor for the eleventh edition of Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Society for Nutrition, member of the National Academy of Science (USA), and has served on the Food Advisory Committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Food and Nutrition Board of the Health and Medicine Division of the National Academies, and Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. She was awarded a Fulbright fellowship for teaching and research in Japan, 2017-2018. Read More Read Less
