Selfie ist der neue Begriff für ein altes Phänomen, das Selbstportra]t. Von Beginn an diente die Portra]tierung der eigenen Person einem bestimmten Zweck, der Inszenierung des Selbst, einhergehend mit der Demonstration von Macht und dem Wunsch zu Imponieren. Dieses Bestreben reicht bis in die heutige Zeit und kann auch auf dem Selfie beobachtet werden. Bei genauerer Betrachtung gibt es aber weitaus mehr zu entdecken und die Motivation zur Erstellung dieser Bilder ist wesentlich vielfältiger. Die visuelle Inszenierung erfolgt hier anhand gesellschaftlicher und kultureller Normvorstellungen im Sinne einer Idealisierung. Solche Normen und Wertvorstellungen gelten auch in Bezug auf ethische Prinzipien, welche jedoch für das Selfie nicht zwangsläufig einen Rahmen bilden. Aktuelle Erkenntnisse hinsichtlich der Deutung und Analyse von Bildern eröffnen neue Perspektiven und Interpretationsmo]glichkeiten. Die folgende Untersuchung ist eine theoretische Abhandlung, welche das Phänomen des Selfies in bereits länger diskutierte Themengebiete wie die Selbstdarstellung im Alltag, das Impression Management, aber auch die philosophischen Theorien zur ästhetischen Wahrnehmung einordnet.
About the Author: Tobias Koch wurde 1977 in Potsdam geboren. Nach langjähriger Berufserfahrung in der Medienbranche, die er bei einem Berliner Radiosender sowie als Fotograf sammelte, entschloss er sich im Alter von 34 Jahren noch einmal ein Studium im Bereich Kommunikationsmanagement an der Business School Berlin Potsdam zu beginnen, welches er im Jahr 2014 erfolgreich mit dem Titel Bachelor of Arts abschloss. Im Laufe des Studiums gründete er eine in Potsdam ansässige Kommunikationsagentur. Seine Leidenschaft für das Fotografieren in Verbindung mit der zu beobachtenden zunehmenden Visualisierung im Internet, welche er als Social-Media-Experte schon länger beobachtet, animierten ihn zu dieser vorliegenden Arbeit.
