Zunächst behandelt diese Arbeit das Thema Lernen und hier insbesondere die Bedeutung negativer Erfahrungen für den Lernprozess. Anschließend widmet sie sich der Sprache als Erfolgskriterium von Kommunikation. Danach wird die Bedeutung des verborgenen Geschehens in einer Gruppe erörtert. Abschließend werden die Verstrickung pädagogischer Basiskompetenzen als der Schlüssel einer erfolgreichen Gruppenarbeit diskutiert. Im Berufsfeld der Pädagogik ist es wichtig, über ein breites Repertoire an pädagogischen Basiskompetenzen zu verfügen. Hierbei stellt sich die Frage, worin sich pädagogisches Können zeigt, welche genauen Kompetenzen Pädagogen benötigen und wie diese Kompetenzen erworben werden können. Nach Bauer handelt es sich bei diesem Fachwissen um theoretische Konstrukte und latente Variablen, was bereits deren Pluralität und Vielfalt verdeutlicht. Bereits im Bereich des Lernens gibt es eine Vielzahl an Auffassungen darüber, wie und wann ein Mensch lernen kann. Der Begriff des Lernens ist demnach sehr vielfältig und kann aus unterschiedlichsten Perspektiven betrachtet werden. So kann Lernen beispielsweise als Wissenserwerb, Konditionierung oder auch Verhaltensänderung bezeichnet werden. John Dewey versteht Lernen als einen Prozess, in welchem der Mensch einen Zusammenhang zwischen dem eigenen Handeln und den daraus folgenden Konsequenzen herstellt. Die Lernform des Erfahrungslernens wird besonders häufig im Zusammenhang mit dem Lernen im Erwachsenenalter thematisiert und beschreibt das Zusammenwirken von Person und Situation.
