Massenmedien sind offensichtlich eine Bereicherung für die Gesellschaft, denn sie vermitteln auch wichtige, zum Teil, versteckte Normen und Werte. Um aber positive und den persönlichen Zweck erfüllende Funktionen, Inhalte und Wirkungsweisen der Medien ausschöpfen zu können, bedarf es einer werturteilenden Argumentationskompetenz und einem kritischen Reflexionsvermögen, um die hervorgerufenen Probleme durch Medien erkennen zu können. Negative Aspekte der Massenmedien sind beispielsweise insultierende Kommunikationsformen im Internet wie, Propaganda- und Hassseiten, Cybermobbing und Shitstorms, die als öffentliche Bemängelung von Medienschaffenden mit Hilfe von Blogs oder Kommentarfunktionen in sozialen Netzwerken auftauchen können, so wie auch manipulative Werbung. Aufgrund dieser problematischen Auswirkungen der Mediatisierung bedarf es an neuen ethischen Leitlinien für die Verarbeitung der personenbezogenen Daten, der prekären Überwachungsmöglichkeiten der Medienproduzenten und Medienrezipienten sowie den verantwortungsbewussten Umgang mit geistreichem Eigentum. Es stellt sich deshalb Frage, was zu dem Bereich der Medienethik gehört und ob diese Disziplin tatsächlich unverzichtbar im Hinblick auf die Digitalisierung ist. Es gilt, zu klären, ob diese nicht gewisse Eingrenzungen mit sich bringt oder sogar mit den demokratischen Grundrechten kollidiert, wenn eine Person ihre Meinung kundgeben möchte, aber durch feststehende in der Gesellschaft etablierten Werte davon zurückgehalten wird. Um diese berechtigten und signifikanten Fragen beantworten zu können, bedarf es einer Begriffs- und Inhaltserklärung der Medienethik. Folglich wird eine bede
