Gestionar lo Público con estilo empresarial llega en un momento más que oportuno: los avatares políticos, sociales y económicos que atraviesa Argentina hoy exigen un profundo debate sobre el funcionamiento del Estado y su efectividad para consolidar una democracia de alta calidad en el país. El lector podrá comprobar, capítulo tras capítulo, que el presente libro cumple plenamente con ese objetivo. Durante décadas, las administraciones públicas nacionales y provinciales han implementado y adaptado herramientas de gestión provenientes del sector privado para la obtención de mejores resultados; una de esas herramientas es la creación de Agencias. Estas estructuras de gestión surgieron para mejorar el vínculo entre los ciudadanos entendidos como "clientes" y la administración pública; y reflejan el paso de una gestión orientada por los principios burocráticos tradicionales de gestión a una gestión orientada por los valores del "New Public Management". En ese marco, el libro plantea cómo la implementación de esas técnicas "gerenciales" fueron aplicadas en la Provincia de Córdoba, más precisamente en la Agencia Córdoba Ciencia durante las gestiones del Gobernador José Manuel de la Sota (1997-2007), con el objetivo de reinventar el gobierno provincial.

Fernando Pérez es Doctor en Ciencia Política. Miembro del Comité Editorial de la Revista de Administración Pública del Instituto Nacional de Administración Pública (INAP) México. Ha impartido cursos y seminarios de posgrado en Universidades Argentinas y Extranjeras. Ha publicado artículos sobre gestión pública en revistas internacionales. Actualmente, en la Carrera de Ciencia Política, es profesor a cargo de Gestión Pública, Política y Gestión Pública Local de la Universidad Nacional de Villa María, Argentina. Docente de Políticas Públicas en la Licenciatura en Seguridad en la misma Universidad. Ha dirigido y dirige programas y proyectos de investigación sobre el Estado, la gestión pública, las políticas públicas, las políticas de seguridad entre otras temáticas. Es investigador categoría III del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores.
