Susan KapankeSusan Kapanke grew up in Bangor, Wisconsin, a small community in south central Wisconsin surrounded by the beauty of the hills and valleys of the Coulee Region. She graduated from Bangor High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Clairewhere she graduated in 1977 with degrees in English and speech education. She earned her Masters in English and education at the University of Wisconsin in 1985. She taught high school English in Spring Grove, Minnesota, but in 1979, began teaching at Elkhorn High School where she taught English and speech classes for 32 years. In 2005, she was asked to deliver the commencement address for the graduating seniors at Bangor High School. She credits her parents for working so hard to help her achieve her dreams.
