Johnnie P BrownFrom the beginning, my passion was always found at the core of working with and encouraging children. My thirty-five years in education included teaching and serving as a proud principal in an elementary school. As I currently enjoy my retirement, I m volunteering at a Catholic school for students with significant cognitive disabilities. They are my priceless gift and infinite blessing. It has consistently been my belief that learning happens when we are presented with experiences that are practical and relatable. This is especially true during a child's early stages of development. This philosophy also applies to lessons learned along our journey of faith. Boxter was found wandering the streets when my husband brought him home on Epiphany Sunday. In my heart, I will always know Boxter was the "light" and guardian angel that God sent us to guide our faith journey. During his time with us, we learned how to love deeper, laugh louder, and appreciate the joys of life. When he unexpectedly lost the ability to use his back legs and required constant care and attention, we learned the true meaning of patience, hope, humility, and unselfish love. When we decided to "let go and let God," we learned about gratitude, faith, trust, and God's incomparable healing love. Through my book, I share my promise to expose God's light to children as they begin their faith journey. It is my prayer for each of us to "let our little light shine" each day. Read More Read Less
